Programme Divison Global Lead: Adolescents and Youth, UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund)

José-Roberto Luna is the Global Lead on Adolescents and Youth in the Programme Division of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund at Headquarters. He spearheads global initiatives on adolescent girls-centred programming, ending child marriage, and promoting caring masculinities with boys and young men. His work focuses on promoting young people’s sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) at the intersection of gender, human rights, and power. He brings over two decades of leadership experience in SRHR across Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and the Arab States. His experience spans leadership roles with civil society organisations, government, the UN System, and academia. Previously, he led regional civil society coalitions for SRHR policy advocacy and oversaw UNFPA’s programming on comprehensive sexuality education and intercultural approaches working with indigenous peoples. A national of Guatemala, he is trained in psychology, political science, and social sciences. He can be reached at jluna@unfpa.org
